Halladay no-hits best offensive team in the National League!

10/7/2010 12:00:00 AM

Roy Halladay threw the second no-hitter in playoffs history last night against the Cincinnati Reds in his first playoff appearance giving the Philadelphia Phillies a 1-0 lead in the Division Series. Halladay only allowed a walk to Jay Bruce in the fifth inning and finished the night with eight k's. It was a night of frustration for the Reds batters, where everything was working in Halladay's favor.

Dan Larsen was the only pitcher to have a no-hitter in playoffs history until last night. Larsen’s legendary perfect game came in the 1956 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers while playing for the New York Yankees.

Edinson Volquez, on the other hand, had command issues with his fastball, allowing four runs on four hits, two walks and no strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. It will be interesting to see if Dusty Baker is going to use Edison Volquez or Travis Wood if the series goes to a Game Four. Game Two of the series will be on Friday at 6:00 pm in Philadelphia, where Roy Oswalt will try to put the Phillies up 2-0 and Bronson Arroyo is going to try to put his Reds back on track.
